Production Operator – Compounding Burl. Plant

TITLE: Production Operator – Compounding Burl. Plant
DEPARTMENT:CompoundingFLSA:Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:Production Lead LOCATIONS:Burlington

Major Function: Manufacture and package chemical products according to instructions and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Major Duties:

  1. Set up, operate, and monitor equipment used for producing and packaging products.
  2. Measure, weigh, mix, and process chemical ingredients following established procedures to create finished products.
  3. Monitor batches for quality and food safety parameters, including Critical Control Points and Control Points.
  4. Record production, sanitation and test data accurately and legibly.
  5. Draw samples of products for quality tests.
  6. Fill containers with chemical products for sale or internal use.
  7. Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work areas according to company procedures.
  8. Promptly report all food safety, physical safety, and product quality issues.
  9. Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds repetitively.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and reach for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders repetitively.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protection Equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to safely and effectively operate production-related machinery including, but not limited to: forklifts, agitators, homogenizers, and drum tippers.
  • Must be able to perform visual and olfactory observations.

  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Familiar with company concepts, practices and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Proficient in reading and mathematics at the high school graduate level.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of chemical or food processing is preferred.
  • GMP and HACCP training is a plus.

Research Laboratory Technician

TITLE: Research Laboratory Technician
DEPARTMENT:R & DFLSA:Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:Director of Technology LOCATIONS:AMS Company Wide – Multiple Facilities

Major Function:

The Research Laboratory Technician is responsible for daily laboratory and production tasks associated with Applied Material. Candidates will assist in laboratory procedures, help manage the sample program, and assist other chemists in product development and testing. There will be a strong emphasis on learning and understanding the industry which will allow for advancement within the laboratory. Applied Material Solutions (AMS) is a manufacturer of defoamers, coating agents, emulsifiers, silicas, and various other products.

Major Duties:

  1. Receive, label, and analyze samples.
  2. Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
  3. Conduct experiments under the mentoring of other chemists and verify and reject various types of hypotheses using scientific methods.
  4. Organize and store chemical materials, including raw materials and finished products according to safety instructions.
  5. Maintain scientific, neat, and orderly laboratory notebooks containing a record of all work performed. Maintain other records as necessary to support patent applications for innovative products.
  6. Maintain laboratory equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
  7. Prepare and assist in sample requests.
  8. Responsible for proficient use of our information operating system.
  9. Maintain an orderly and safe laboratory space.
  10. Other similar tasks as required by management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Carry up to 50 lbs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Maintain other records as necessary to support patent applications for innovative products.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
  • Prepare and assist in sample requests.
  • Responsible for proficient use of our information operating system.
  • Maintain an orderly and safe laboratory space.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to complete projects and tasks as assigned according to deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to communicate product information to customers and sales representatives.
